Nub City
Expand your city, train units, and earn Expansion Packs to try and survive as long as you can! Made in 10 days for the Fireside Jam 2024 with the theme "Expand". - The game got 3rd place overall, and 2nd place in fun!
This jam was super fun to participate in, so thanks to HelperWesley for hosting it! (i also learned to NOT overscope a jam game. it will not go well.)
!! I recommend playing the game in full screen. Some features of the game use mouse scrolling which will also scroll the page if not in full-screen. !!
Features:
- 4 Different Expansion Packs that add new buildings, units, and enemies.
- More than 15 different buildings, all with unique effects
- Over a dozen different units you can train to defend from 11 types of enemies
- A simple and relaxing yet addicting gameplay loop
- Cool music

how can i make games like this? do u have any suggestions or tutorial?
I use Construct 3 for my games. I wouldn't really know what to suggest other than just start with small games, and eventually you'll be able to make bigger ones when you are more experienced. I've used C3 for about 3 years now.
Very fun little game here. My best run so far:
Cycles Survived - 28
Enemies Slain - 888
Highest Nub Count - 173
Tokens Left - 8234
Final Score - 22416
My downfall? Too many mines, couldn't train new nubs quickly enough because I couldn't build enough buildings after stockpiling way too much of the currency. I did in fact get to the point that I ran out of space about ten cycles before the raids became too difficult so being able to sell buildings would've probably gotten me through a few more cycles, but managing the space without selling was also fun. Also didn't have enough melee nubs to keep the enemy robots off of my massive hordes of third eyes & archers so the enemy robots were nuking my ranged forces. Maybe the tiny nubs would've provided more value than I expected.
Overall had a lot of fun, definitely kept me well entertained for a little over an hour. Great job making this.
This game is awesome! It does start to drag on a little but it was super fun! Could you in a later update make you able to rearrange and seel buildings? I feel like that's essential for this game
Yeah selling makes sense, I originally didn't do it because I thought having to manage your space could be fun but you never really get to a point where you run out of space by the time the raids get too difficult
